Ubuntu Lite es "Poder Ubuntu para Máquinas Lentas", concretamente, un proyecto independiente para crear una distribución basada en Ubuntu capaz de correr en hardware tan limitado como un Pentium de 200 MHz con 64 Mb de RAM.
Al contrario que otras variantes de Ubuntu, Ubuntu Lite se enfoca en paquetes de software que tengan un bajo consumo de recursos.

Muy a la manera de Ubuntu Lite, Fluxbuntu es una variante de Ubuntu que usa a mi querido Fluxbox como su livianísimo Window Manager. Fluxbuntu nBuild1 Alpha está basado en Ubuntu 6.06 LTS Desktop, y su instalación en una Pentium 2 de 233 Mhz con 386 Mb demora sólo 12 minutos.
Los requerimientos mínimos incluyen una Pentium 2 (aunque el sistema podria funcionar con menos), 128 Mb de RAM y un disco rígido de 2 Gb (la instalación ocupa 1.2 Gb).
